It could be worse

 

 

 

SOL #12/31

As my husband is on his hands and knees cleaning up vomit off the carpet, he looks up at me while I am holding the little our sick little one and asks,

“When is everything going to go right?”

Mind you my husband had just finished cleaning up the wet mess left behind after our sump pump quit working and drowned everything in our basement in 6 inches of water.

But that question had not come across my mind

even though I had lived the same “disastrous” day as my hubby.

My thoughts were:

I know both our children are home sick--------but I am glad I can be home taking care of them.

I know our basement just flooded------but at least it wasn’t sewer water!

I know you are having to clean vomit off of the floor-----but at least we got most of it in the trashcan and praise the Lord we have a Green Machine!

I try to focus on the positive,

to Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff,

find the silver lining in all situations.

Don’t get me wrong it is not always easy.

But it is hard to be happy when you are looking for someone

to blame or harbor complaints about how the world has “wronged” you.

My husband and I took a minute to look inward and put life in perspective.

Then we both realized,

“We are handling it. It may not be the best day but it could be worse!”
